Full Review

Starburst is a glittering gem of Net Entertainment’s online games arsenal. This slot is one of the simpler themed slots out there, consisting of diamonds, jewels and shiny stones, all set against a backdrop of powerful purple. Gamer’s seeking a complicated slot, won’t find that with this Net Entertainment release. What you get is the online casino software developer proving that it is possible to release a great looking slot, with minimal graphics and sound.

How to play Starburst slots online

This slot machine game, features 5 reels and only 10 paylines, so there isn’t that much to overwhelm gamers, in this slot, that can be found in most top Net Entertainment powered casinos. Coin betting ranges vary from £0.01 up to £1.00, with a total of ten coins per line being permitted to be wagered. This gives Starburst a minimum and maximum wager of £0.01 per line, per spin, and £100.00 for a full game, respectively.

Purple, blue and orange gemstones make up the lower paying icons in this slot machine game, with the green and yellow jewels making up the fair pay icons. The 7 icon is worth a total payout of 120 coins if 5 are struck. Similarly the golden bar icon is the top paying standard symbol, worth a total of 250 coins if 5 are hit on a payline.

Starburst bonus features

There aren’t a lot of special bonus features in this slot. In fact there, is only one, an expanding wild feature. Other features in this slot though, include the ability to win in any direction, as the paylines both from left to right and from right to left. This certainly contributes to good of the slot, though it certainly does not make up for the lack of any special bonus features, which players are going to find frustrating.

The wild symbol

The wild symbol used in the slot is the coloured starry icon. This multi-coloured star (known as the Starburst Wild icon) can substitute itself for all other symbols in the game. The wild symbol only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 and expands over an entire reel.

Wild re-spins

If a Starburst Wild icon spreads itself over an entire wild, the expanding wild re-spins round is triggered. This will keep the expanded wild reel in place, whilst the other reels that do not contain an expanding wild will spin again. The total number of re-spins that can be won with an expanding wild is limited to three.

The Starburst jackpot

A total of 2,500 coins are available as a jackpot in this non-progressive slot machine game, which equates to approximately £2,500, if the player has the maximum wager staked of course. This jackpot can be won by accumulated 5 of the golden bar icons on a payline, which will multiply the line bet of £10 by 250 times.

Other notes on Starburst

What Net Entertainment have done here, is prove that it is entirely possible to create a simplistic slot machine, with decent enough graphics and fair enough music, without it being terribly retro looking and boring. However, the lack of any real bonus features will certainly not go unnoticed by gamers across the world.

Just one additional bonus feature, no matter how small, would have certainly changed the fortune of this particular Net Ent title for the better. The slot doesn’t have scatter symbols, no multipliers, and no free spin rounds. Instead you are left to deal with expanding wild and re-spins, which are hardly the same thing.

For a non-progressive jackpot slot that costs upwards of £100 to play with the maximum spin, perhaps the total standard jackpot of £2,500 isn’t really going to be considered a worthwhile enough to play for. This slot would work well with lessened maximum wagers, and a slightly higher jackpot, or even the additional of some bonus games. The jackpot is instead hard to win, and costly in the process.

Nothing should be taken away from what Net Entertainment has tried to achieve her, and Starburst is from a visual perspective, a very decent looking slot machine game. However, gamers aren’t going to be gunning for graphics, their gunning for massive jackpots and special features, and they simply aren’t present.
