Full Review

Based more on the US version of the hugely popular eighties and nineties television show, Wheel of Fortune; this slot has proven itself to be a huge hit with online slots players across the online casino world. IGT have tried to make Wheel of Fortune faithful to the original, and the way that the bonus game is played really helps make that a reality. The music is a little tacky, but so was the music from the television show. There have been many television show themed slots that have attempted to bring the action from the TV screen to the slot world, and have failed miserably. Wheel of Fortune is a good and honest representation and as best as you are going to get!

How to play Wheel of Fortune slots online

Set up against a scene from the TV show itself, the reels are 5 in number, and contain only 5 paylines, making it easy pickings to choose how you want to play. Gamers can begin placing wagers on this slot, from a lowly £0.05 per line, per spin, up to £50 per spin. Coin values vary from £0.05 up to £10.

The designers of this slot have chosen to make the game filled with classic icons. Some of the symbols in the online slot machine include strawberries, oranges, grapes and watermelons; but those are only the low paying symbols. Higher paying symbols include single, double and treble gold bars, a diamond ring, a cruise liner, and a tropical beach. Naturally the latter three are the most prosperous, offering payouts of 750 coins, 1,000 coins and 1,200 coins for five of the same icons on a payline, respectively.

Wheel of Fortune bonus features

The bonus jackpot icon is the scatter symbol in this slot game. There are three different bonus jackpot icons to be had. Three bonus jackpot icons will trigger a payout of 25 coins. Four of them will payout 125 coins, and 5 of them 375 coins. Each of the bonus icons comes with a figure displayed on it, when a player collects one of them, either the figure in the red, orange or yellow will be added to the bonus jackpot accumulator.

The actual Wheel of Fortune logo is the bonus icon in the game.

The wild symbol

The wild icon in this slot game is the backdrop with the word “wild” written across it. Wild icons substitute themselves for all symbols, with the exception of the bonus jackpot icons and the Wheel of Fortune logo/bonus icon. Matching up 5 of the wild symbols will win the player the standard jackpot.

The Wheel Bonus

The Wheel of Fortune bonus is a side game or a bonus round, where serious money can be won. It is triggered when a player matches up 3 of the Wheel of Fortune logos, which act as the game’s bonus icons. The Wheel Bonus permits players to win a fixed prize, which is likely to happen as there is only one “bankrupt” spot on the wheel. The second spin has three such spots, and so on and so forth. Players can collect their winnings after any round though. This is where players can accumulate the bonus jackpot accumulated by the scatter icons earlier in the game.

The Wheel of Fortune jackpot

There are two main ways that a player can win the 12,500 coin jackpot in this slot. The first is to match up 5 wild icons on a payline. The other way is to match up 5 bonus icons (Wheel of Fortune logos) on a payline. Doing either of these, will win players the jackpot; which if they have the maximum wager staked, will see them pick up £50,000 in prize money!

Other notes on Wheel of Fortune

If you’re a television show lover and Wheel of Fortune was one of your favourite, then you’re just going to be fresh out of excuses to not play this game. Yes, the bonus jackpot accumulator can be a little confusing, but after a couple spins, players will get used to it.

One of the areas where this slot has a lot of things going for it, it is in the cost of the maximum stake to the amount of money available for the jackpot. A total of £50 for the max wager, and a total of £50,000 for the max win? Now, there is a big difference in figures between those two.

The only thing that is really missing from this slot is a free spins bonus round, but that can certainly be forgiven, given the excellent gameplay on offer with this slot. Sure, UK gamers will wish that IGT had chosen the British TV show to base it on, as the American one is quite cheesy. But this is a cult classic, and is well deserving of a spot in the online slot hall of fame!
